Crossrail Project, London
Client: Geotechnical Consulting Group

CARD specialists are assisting Geotechnical Consulting Group’s (GCG's) Crossrail design team, providing consultancy advice on contaminated land issues for the £16billion cross-London railway.

Crossrail’s route crosses London’s former industrial heartland and poses many environmental and engineering challenges.

We have been engaged on the ground investigations for several work packages, which covered various parts of the alignment from Paddington, in the west, to Stratford and Greenwich, in the east, including over-water work where the route crosses the River Thames.

Our role was to supervise the field testing and chemical sampling during progress of exploratory holes through the upper strata, where contamination may be present, scheduling of contamination testing and interpretative reporting of the data obtained.

More recently, we have been involved in processing of the AGS data and database management and scoping of additional ground investigations across the route.

The reports produced by CARD will be used by designers, estimators and contractors to provide a safe and sustainable transport scheme.
