Pentagon Shopping Centre, Chatham

Client: Dunedin Properties and Asset Management via Cameron Taylor

It was planned to expand the facilities at the Pentagon Shopping Centre to provide further mezzanine space, requiring the construction of additional piled foundations.

We organised and directed cone penetration and ground probing radar within the shopping centre during the Christmas shopping period. Works were undertaken out-of-hours and during the night to minimise disruption.

In addition, the structural engineer required the existing heavily reinforced concrete slab to be cored to verify original design drawings.

New pile foundations through deep soft alluvium were to be designed based on CPT information and we provided advice on construction methods.
