Part IIA - Contaminated Land Surveys

Client: Various

Since 2004 we have been appointed by a number clients to undertake contamination investigations of individual properties following the identification by desk-based studies of the potential for contamination. This has been initiated by various Councils under their responsibilities under Part II A of the Environmental Protection Act, (1990) as implemented by the Contaminated Land Regulations 2000.

The sites are often small and extremely sensitive, and require close liaison with Council officials, the public and regulators. The nature of the sites makes it essential that the targeted, and highly cost-effective, preliminary investigations are sensitively undertaken by field staff.

The results of these investigations are used either as the basis of future decisions by Council officials directly or by the property owner in order to discharge their obligations placed upon them by the Local Authority.
