CGL has recently gained the acceptance of the EA and Local Authority to satisfactory completion of the ground remediation works at a chemical factory in Kent.
We provided Nufarm Limited, our Client, with specialist consultancy advice initially relating to due diligence assessment of the site prior to sale. This in turn lead onto detailed ground investigation, remediation design and contract support during tender and implementation stages and, technical support during surrender of the PPC permit. CGL also undertook full validation of the works, which was necessary to facilitate the sale of the site to a demanding prospective purchaser. During the course of the works CGL alongside specialist remediation contractors dealt with a variety of organic contaminants in the soil and groundwater using a combination approach involving excavation, removal of obstructions pump and treat, bioremediation, specialist disposal and construction of an impermeable barrier wall. This was also achieved in the face of the site being covered in snow for several weeks. Quantitative risk assessment modelling using ConSIM was used to assess the suitability of treated materials for re-use on site following the excavation and bioremediation works.
On completion of the sale the Client complimented CGL saying “May I thank you and your colleagues for your competent advice, your support and persistent patience in the face of difficult and often trying circumstances…”
