F1 in Schools Final

Posted Date : 30 September 2011

Solstice, the F1 in Schools team, supported by CGL has returned from the World Championships in Malaysia. Having competed against 23 countries in the Finals and being one of the youngest groups to attend, they proudly returned with the 6th fastest car in the world.

The F1 in Schools Technology Challenge is the largest STEM competition in the world, supported by over 17,000 schools in 34 countries. The essence of this Challenge is for teams of students to research, engineer, manufacture and test a miniature Formula One car using advanced technology employed in the real world!

Although the team were penalised against one manufacturing rule, they held their heads high, entering the knock out stage in good spirits. They made it into the final qualification round being pipped at the post by a couple of thousandth of a second in the final heat.

The students have returned with a wealth of experience on which to grow and progress towards next year’s competition and we wish them the very best of luck.
