Since its formation in 1994, CGL has worked as part of design and construction teams with many other consultants. Some recognise they lack the geotechnical or geoenvironmental specialist skills we can provide, others feel they need the advice that our senior team can offer, drawing on their knowledge of the industry and contribution to national guidance documents and codes. In all the advice we give we are aware of the need for pragmatism providing the value added that projects often need.
CGL has handled a wide variety of enquiries for our skills and services, from specialist input into foundation designs, ground movement predictions, investigation of leaking basements to more conventional desk studies, due diligence, site investigations, remediation and verification. The emergence of Eurocodes within construction will lead to far greater necessity for the numerical analysis of complex ground loading and movement associated with serviceability issues posed by EC7, and CGL has people with these specialisms available.
In the geoenvironmental field CGL has experienced consultant staff who can provide incisive observation on existing reports, probing beyond the template project documents and risk adverse terminology that is common in today’s environmental interpretation reporting. Our authorship of leading advice guides and document manuals in this area allows us to pursue credible risk reviews and value engineer solutions that have the confidence of regulators and clients alike.
We value our relationships with fellow consultants, recognising that trust has to built on both sides to push the boundaries of any technical solution whilst keeping the risk to our mutual clients suitably low. For some of our co-consultants we have been a feature of their geotechnical and geoenvironmental input almost since our company started. For others, we are perhaps relatively new but recommended by client teams that have recognised our contributions to earlier projects.
We are proud to work alongside consultants such as the Walsh Group, Geotechnical Consulting Group, URS/Scott Wilson, Stuart Michael Associates, Matthews Consulting, Jane Wernick, KMN, Sands, AKS Ward, JSA, Price and Myer, VKHP, Gravity Consulting Engineers, IESIS, Michael Barclay Partnership, CCS, DDC, Acuity, Beam, Jubb, Elliott Wood, Donald McCallum, Jenkins and Potter and Packman Lucas, and enjoy working with old friends and new teams alike.
